Flax - first generation

Interactive 2-DE gel of 13 differentially abundant proteins in mature flax seeds harvested from RA and NRA Chernobyl fields

The aim of this experiment was to identify differentially abundant proteins between mature seeds harvested from first generation of flax plants grown in Chernobyl radioactive (RA) and non-radioactive (NRA) experimental fields.  Proteins were isolated from mature seeds harvested from both fields and resolved using protein two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE). The 2-DE gels were digitalized and analyzed by ImageMaster 2D Platinum 4.9 software.  Only 2-DE spots present in at least in two biological replicates were considered.  To compensate for slight differences in sample loading and gel staining, the volume of the spot is shown as relative volume (%V) – volume of one spot normalized toward total volume of all spots in the analysis. Two-sample T-test, offered by ImageMaster program, was used to calculate T-test value for each spot.  Only spots with p-value lower or equal to 0.05 were considered as differentially abundant between RA and NRA fields. These protein spots were excised from 2-DE gels and subjected for protein identification using tandem mass spectrometry. In total 13 proteins, that are circled on interactive 2-DE gel, were identified on 2-DE gel of pI 4-7.
